While I may be a critic of new fuel economy standards; H.R. 1506, the Fuel Economy Reform Act and the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) legislation, I certainly think that nobody would be opposed to a more efficient vehicle! However, we need to be wary of such legislation. The economic implications of such legislation are profound. Retooling an entire manufacturing industry is a long and expensive process. We need to be careful that such legislative standards are not the result of an effort to placate alarmists and environmentalist extremists. We need to adopt a regulatory,
