What if I told you that you could go out and buy an all electric plug-in car today, at a local dealership and be driving it around on the road instantly for roughly 17,000 dollars? You would definitely be perplexed because you’d thought we were a couple of years away from this as an industry due to how expensive these cars can be to make on the production line. Yet if I told you they only go 25 miles per hour, then it would become more believable! The ‘Miles’ Electric Vehicle car company has built low speed electric vehicles which are exclusively sold at only a select group of dealerships across the country. With the use of a 110 outlet, they are charged exactly where you would insert the nozzle while filling up a traditional car with gasoline. These vehicles are a perfect fit for companies looking to cut down on emissions and pollutants as a result of their fleets. This will also help the bottom line of organizations that utilize vehicle fleets by cutting down on operational costs without compromising performance. The two models currently for sale are the ZX40 and the ZX40S. The most impressive thing about Miles is the fact that they plan to release the first affordable highway speed all electric vehicle in 2009 called the Miles XS500. Powered by a proprietary lithium ion battery, this car will be able to go over 80 mph and travel approximately 120 miles on a single charge which will cost the same as a gallon of gas! In the foreseeable future this will be the only realistically affordable and practical all electric vehicle which can be driven on a highway. It will cost only 32,000 dollars!

Miles is quietly taking the lead in the advancements of all electric vehicle technology. A lot of the major car companies are working slower towards all electric plug-ins because they have more risk at stake when it comes to creating these vehicles. Miles is able to have a more narrow focus since they are exclusively an all-electric car company. They are currently focusing on municipalities, universities and other organizations looking to cut costs and emissions from the vehicles they use to fulfill practical every day needs. Presently these vehicles are being used by Stanford, UCLA, California State Polytechnic University, NASA, the U.S. Navy, the National Park Service, and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. With 90% fewer moving parts, and a 125 mpg cost equivalent, they are far more efficient all around than traditional gasoline powered vehicles. In fact gas powered automobiles cost 5 times more to operate. By using a Miles all electric vehicle in place of a gasoline vehicle organizations can also eliminate 12,000 pounds of annual tailpipe emissions per car. With 40 authorized dealers across the country, Miles foresees this number growing to 200 by the end of next year. Founded in 2005 by Miles Rubin, Miles Electric Vehicles is owned by S. Shamash & Sons and its headquarters are located in Santa Monica, CA. The bottom line, Miles can get you the most miles per dollar of any other vehicle currently for sale on the market! When you combine that with zero emissions, and current market availability, you get the most efficient car on the road today!
